Panthers Record Several Personal Bests At Pair of Weekend Meets

Robinson placed first in the weight throw and third in the shot put.
The women's track and field team had Panthers competing at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday, as well as its own Middlebury Field & Track Meet on Saturday. The BU meet featured professional runners, in addition to competition from all three NCAA divisions. 
 
VALENTINE INVITE HIGHLIGHTS (FRIDAY)
  • Melissa White turned in a stellar performance in the 60-meter dash on Friday night, placing 18th with a clocking of 8.09 seconds in a field of 49. The Panther also competed in the 200, crossing the line with the fastest time for Middlebury in the event this season (25.74) to finish in 70th of 224 sprinters.
  • Also competing in the 200, and recording personal-best records, were Katie Bruno (26.15) Anna Krouse (26.26), Addie Morrison (27.18) and Elle Thompson (27.27).
  • Krouse, (57.73), Michelle Louie (58.08), Morrison (1:01.61) and Meaghan McEnroe earned personal-record times in the 400.
  • Debuting in the mile was Audrey MacLean who placed 185th out of over 300 middle-distance runners, crossing the line in 5:03.31. Tatum Peskin (5:08.00) and Victoria Fawcett (5:13.35) tallied personal-record times in the event.
MIDDLEBURY FIELD & TRACK HIGHLIGHTS (SATURDAY)
  • In the weight throw, Mary Scott Robinson won the event with a toss of 14.13m, while Jaxon Palmer was the runner-up (13.50m). Robinson also placed in the top three in the shot put, finishing third with a mark of 11.25m. 
  • Middlebury claimed the top-two spots in a trio of track events. Macy Daggitt led the way in the 60 dash with a time of 8.09 seconds, followed by Olivia Carden (8.21). In the 400, Lily Bulczynski placed first with a personal-record time of 1:00.18, while Anna Mazur was right behind in second (1:02.68). Rounding out the group was Cate Kreutzen breaking the tape in the 800 (2:25.96) and Eloise Christy one spot back (2:26.45). 
  • Zoe Wang earned runner-up honors in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 3.40m.
  • In the high jump, Gabriella Gerig was second with a height of 1.50m.
  • Other runner-up finishes came from Emma Mills in the 60 hurdles (9.44) and Peskin with a personal-record time of 10:34.09 in the 3,000. 
  • Rounding out the third-place laurels were Olive Lawrence in the long jump (5.12m), Liza Toll in the 200 (28.71) and the 4x200 quartet of Daggitt, Gerig, Christy, and Maggie Allen (1:54.69). 
Middlebury is idle until February 23 when selected members of the team compete in the three-day Division III Indoor New England Championships at THE Track at New Balance.
