#7 Women’s Soccer Earns Hard-Fought Scoreless Draw With Babson

The #7 Middlebury women's soccer team battled Babson on Sunday afternoon, finishing in a scoreless draw. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers gained momentum early in the first half. With 32 ticks off the clock, Abby Ward raced into the box to fire a shot off, but her bid was stopped by Beaver goalie Nora Ryan.
  • Ward connected with the ball just over a minute later at the 1:38 mark. She fired a shot from 12 yards out, but Ryan punched the ball away.
  • With 4:28 expired, Cate Woolsey took a header shot off of a corner kick that hit the crossbar and pinged away.
  • Priscilla-Rose Men-Martin looked to get the Beavers on the board with 7:44 elapsed, but Frankie Getman made the block to stop her attempt.
  • Olga Metelkine had a nice bid from 15 yards out at the 26:56 mark, but Carolyn Kelley smothered the chance to keep Babson off the board. 
  • Middlebury ignited early in the second half with 47:45 expired. Chloe Swindle raced towards the center of the box and sent a blistering shot on net, but her opportunity was blocked by a defender. 
  • The Beavers had a great chance to score at the 54:50 mark. Caroline Sutherland's shot sailed just above the gloves of Kelley when Kjersti Moritz came up big to make the block and turn it away to keep Babson off the scoreboard.
  • Jordyn Ferrantino fired off a shot with 63:40 elapsed from 25 yards out, but her bid went high towards Kelley, who got a hand on it to punch it away.
  • The Panthers had a chance for the golden goal with 75:23 expired. Gigi Day took a shot from close range, but her attempt clipped just above the crossbar, as the game finished in a 0-0 tie. 
 NOTES
  • The programs played for the second time with Middlebury holding a 1-0-1 record. 
 The Panthers return to action when they travel to Tufts on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
