#7 Women’s Soccer Battles To Scoreless Draw With Colby

The #7 Middlebury women's soccer team battled Colby for 90 minutes, but it wasn't enough as the sides ended in a scoreless tie on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers looked to get on the board at the 5:02 mark of the first half on a shot by Mia Feldman, but Colby goalie MK Marshall thwarted the attempt.
  • Middlebury gained momentum with 19:33 expired when Abby Ward raced down the pitch before passing ahead to Chloe Swindle. She ripped a blistering shot from just outside the box, but Marshall was there to punch the bid away.
  • Abigail Jarvi attempted to bury her shot with 24:11 elapsed when Panther goalie Carolyn Kelley made a save to keep the contest scoreless.
  • Roshann Purcell tried to get into the scoresheet in the 30th minute, but her shot was blocked by a Mule defender.
  • Colby ignited in the opening minute of the second half when Claire Walsh's attempt was smothered by Kelley at 45:17.
  • Swindle ripped a shot from just outside the box with 54:54 expired, but the rising bid sailed just over the crossbar.
  • The Mules fought back in the 56th minute when Walsh gathered a loose ball and fired a shot into the hands of Kelley.
  • Colby had a good opportunity for the golden goal at the 85:04 mark. Annie Liebich ripped a shot on goal, but Kelley tapped the ball away to keep the Mules off the board.
  • Ward gained momentum when she raced down the pitch just over a minute later. Muscling the ball away from Marshall, she snuck past her to loft a long ball toward the net, but Marshall came up again to save it and preserve the tie.
