Men’s Basketball Cruises Past Bates 61-40

The Middlebury men's basketball team opened up a 13-point first-half lead and never looked back, cruising past Bates 61-40 on Friday night.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The teams traded baskets over the opening 6:57. Leading 11-10, the Panthers rattled off an 11-0 run, capped by a layup from Lamine Cisse to storm into a 22-10 advantage.
  • Ahead by 10 (26-16), Middlebury continued to pull away, outscoring the Bobcats 5-2 over the final 4:15 of the opening half. 
  • With 37 seconds to go, Noah Osher sank a jump shot to extend the Panther lead to 13 points (31-18) at the intermission.
  • Middlebury came out of the locker room red hot from beyond the arc, connecting on five-straight over the first 5:26 of play to jump into a 21-point advantage (46-25) on a triple by Kuba Cwalina.
  • ThePanthers continued growing their lead, manufacturing an 8-2 run capped by a jumper from Osher to make it a 28-point game (59-31) with 4:53 left to play.
  • From there, Middlebury controlled the remainder of the contest, as a pair of charity tosses by Ian Murray with 18 seconds to go gave the visitors a 61-40 triumph.  
NOTES
  • David Brennan claimed his 32nd career double-digit rebounding game, pulling down 10 boards in the win.
  • The programs squared off for the 55th time with the Panthers owning a decisive 43-12 advantage. Middlebury has won eight of the last nine games against the Bobcats.
The Panthers are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Tufts for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
