Panthers Open Indoor Season With Runner-Up Finish

Anna Krouse had two PRs and was on the winning relay.
The Panther women's track and field team opened the indoor season with a runner-up finish at their own Middlebury Snowflake Invitational. The University of Vermont won the meet with 285 points, while the Panthers tallied 240 points.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers started the day strong with all three competitors in the shot put placing in the top-10 spots. Mary Scott Robinson led the way with a first-place finish, recording a mark of 12.02 meters. Lilly Wurz was right behind in second (10.97m), while Julia Tulimieri finished in sixth place (9.20m). Wurtz obliterated her personal record in the weight throw, tossing the implement a distance of 14.00m to win the event. 
  • In the 60-meter hurdles, rookie Emma Mills paced the Panthers with a fourth-place showing, clocking in at 9.80. Classmate Olivia Carden was right behind with a time of 9.88.
  • Macy Daggitt earned runner-up laurels in the long jump, hitting the sand at 5.02m (16'5.75"). Lucy Pollitt (fourth) and Gabriella Gerig (fifth) rounded out the top five, recording marks of 4.92m and 4.80m, respectively. Gerig placed third in the high jump with a mark of 1.50, while Brooke Dolan and Eloise Christy ended in a fourth-place tie with a height of 1.45m. 
  • Pacing the field in the 400m was Anna Krouse and Mary Elliott who were the only sprinters to go sub-60 seconds. Krouse was crowned the winner with a time of 59.65, while Elliott was right behind in 59.76.
  • Earning a spot on the top of the podium in the 500m was Ciara Dale, clocking in at 1:19.11. Ashley Raynor was two spots back in third (1:22.43). 
  • Middlebury took the top-four spots in the 60m dash, paced by Daggitt who won the event with a time of 8.031. Olive Lawrence was just behind in 8.033 to earn second place.
  • Middlebury swept the 200, taking the top-11 spots in the event. Michelle Louie (26.75), Krouse (26.83) and Annabel Cloney (26.86) each went sub-27 seconds to place first, second and third, respectively.
  • Isabelle Gay placed third in the triple jump, landing in the sand at a mark of 10.53m (34'6.75"). 
  • Cate Kreutzen crossed the finish line in fourth place in the 800 (2:32.26).
  • The Panthers closed out the track events with a first-place finish the in 4x400 relay. Dale, Louie, Krouse and Cloney combined for a time of 4:07.24 to win the event.  
NOTES
  • Krouse recorded personal best times in both the 200 and the 400.
  • Elliott broke the 60-second barrier for the first time in her career in the 400.
  • Anna Kester recorded a personal-record height of 2.60m in the pole vault.
  • Lawrence's time of 8.033 in the 60m was the fastest of her career.
  • Gay recorded a personal record in the triple jump.
The Panthers return to Virtue Field House next weekend when they host the two-day Middlebury Winter Classic.
