Rubio Concludes NCAA Championship Debut In Heptathlon

Emily Rubio of the Middlebury women's track and field team closed out the heptathlon on the second day of the NCAA Championship. The first-year concluded the event with a total of 3,761 points to finish 21st.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Rubio opened the day with the long jump, placing 11th with a leap of 5.31m. Rubio recorded the distance on her second attempt of the day.
  • In the javelin, the Panther set a new personal record with a toss of 18.58m to finish in 21st.
  • Rubio closed the event with a 12th place showing in the 800-meter.The Panther crossed the finish line in 2:29.00.
NOTES
  • Rubio has enjoyed immense success in her initial campaign, breaking both the indoor pentathlon (3,450 points) and outdoor heptathlon (4,477 points) records.
  • She set personal records in three events (high jump, shot put and javelin) during the NCAA Championship.
  • Rubio's best event was the high jump, where she cleared the bar at 1.67m on Thursday to earn runner-up.
  • Grace Alley of Loras earned the title in the event with a total score of 5,278 points.
