Women’s Track and Field Claims Middlebury Outdoor Invitational

Prior to the start of the meet, Middlebury honored the women's track and field seniors (above) for their contributions to the program.
The Panther women's track and field team won 16 events to claim the Middlebury Outdoor Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers won the meet with 418 points, while Plattsburgh State finished second (108.5 points) and Union rounded out the top-three (85.5 points).
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The 4x100-meter relay team of Melissa White, Michelle Louie, Eva Kaiden and Cady Barns crossed the finish line with a Dragone Field record time of 47.76 to earn first place. 
  • Emily Rubio was victorious in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.03. 
  • Barns won the 100 dash with a clocking of 12.84, and earned the top spot in the long jump with a leap of 5.46m.
  • In the jumping events, Peyton Belsher won the high jump with a height of 1.56m, while Zoe Wang cleared the bar at 3.35m to earn the victory. 
  • Jaxon Palmer dominated the hammer throw, winning the event with a toss of 41.98m, nearly three-and-a-half meters further than second place. 
  • In the 5,000, Kate Kenny cruised to first place, crossing the finish line in 18:05.50.
  • Lucy Pollitt was victorious in the triple jump, recording a winning distance of 11.16m.
  • In the 800 and 200, the Panthers claimed each of the top four spots. Ciara Dale won the 800 with a clocking of 2:17.27, while Eva Kaiden finished first in the 200 with a time of 26.81.
  • Julia Tulimieri claimed the crown in the shot put with a heave of 11.85m.
  • The quartet of Mary Elliot, Addie Morrison, Nikky Sztachelski and Cate Kreutzen broke the tape in the 4x400 relay with a clocking of 4:12.69. 
  • Madeline Sauders closed the day with a victory in the discus. The sophomore won the event with a personal-best toss of 37.00m.
NOTES The Panthers will look to defend their NESCAC crown on Saturday, April 29 when they travel to Connecticut College for the NESCAC Championships.
