Sixth-Ranked Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Connecticut College

The sixth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team dropped just one set on its way to a 9-0 victory over Connecticut College. With the victory, the Panthers have won three-straight matches and improved to 7-1 this spring. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panther duo of Amy Delman and Claudia Miller surrendered just three games in the top spot to claim the afternoon's first point (8-3).
  • In the second spot, Nina Farhat and Sami Remis won the first seven games and cruised past their opponents 8-1, while Amanda Frank and Anna Lardner turned a 3-2 edge at #3 into an 8-3 win.
  • Farhat kept things rolling and didn't drop a game in the fifth slot during singles action, putting Middlebury up 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph. 
  • At #3 singles, Lulu Wu clinched the victory for the Panthers with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over her opponent. 
  • One spot above, van der Reis cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win, while Lardner eased past her opponent in straight sets by a 6-0, 6-3 score.
  • Delman outlasted her opponent in the top spot, picking up a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 win, while Frank completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 win at #6.
NOTES
  • Continuing her stellar start to the spring is van der Reis, who improved to 8-0 in 2023 and has been victorious in 13-straight matches dating back to the fall. 
  • The victory for Frank and Lardner at #3 doubles was the duo's eighth in a row, including a perfect 3-0 in NESCAC matches.
  • The two programs met for the 13th time with the Panthers claiming their 13th win in the all-time series and eighth-consecutive 9-0 decision.
The Panthers conclude their three-match homestand on Sunday with a 10:00 a.m. match against #9 Emory.
