Women’s Track and Field Sets Two School Records at PLNU Invitational

Melissa White was a part of the 4x100 relay team that broke the Middlebury school record at today's meet.
The Middlebury women's track and field team concluded its spring break trip to California by competing at the Point Loma Nazarene University Collegiate Invitational. The meet was highlighted by new school records set in the 4x100-meter relay and the shot put.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The quartet of Melissa White, Michelle Louie, Eva Kaiden and Cady Barns earned a runner-up finish in the 4x100, stopping the clock in 47.82. Their time set a school record, besting the previous time by .7 seconds.
  • Julia Tulimieri secured a second place showing in the shot put. The first year set a school record with a toss of 12.35-meters. Lilly Wurtz and Mary Scott Robinson placed fifth and sixth, respectively, with throws of 11.20m and 11.08m.
  • Barns continued her banner day, winning the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 5.51m and 11.63m, respectively.
  • In the 800m, Elle Thompson took home the top spot, crossing the finish line in 2:15.13. Audrey Grimes was five spots behind, finishing with a time of 2:19.37.
  • Ciara Dale was the runner-up in 400 hurdles, with a time of 1:03.28.
  • In the javelin, Jaxon Palmer finished in third with a toss of 36.09m. Reilly Isler placed three spots back,in sixth with a mark of 32.74m. Isler also earned a fifth place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 37.15m, while Palmer finished in seventh (35.93m).
  • Peyton Belsher placed sixth in the high jump, with a height of 1.50m, while Briana Johnson and Katie Bruno each tied for eighth, jumping 1.45m.
  • Tatum Peskin claimed a second place finish in the 3,000 steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 11:42.40.
  • In the 100 hurdles, Emily Rubio finished in eighth with a time of 15.31.
  • Louie placed fourth in the 400 with a clocking of 58.55. Anna Krouse (59:65), Annabel Cloney (1:00.00) and Eva Kaiden (1:00.32) finished ninth, 10th and 11th, respectively, in a field of 43 racers.
  • White (fifth) and Olive Lawrence (10th) each scored top-10 finishes in the 100m, stopping the clock in 12.32 and 12.58, respectively.
  • A trio of Panthers finished in the top-10 in the 200. White led the group in third (25.65) while Louie (fifth, 25.73) and Rubio (eighth 26.13) rounded out the group of top-10 finishers.
  • Zoe Wang cleared the bar at 3.44m in pole vault to claim the fourth spot in the event.
  • In the discus, Madeline Sauders was second with a throw of 36.82m, while Wurtz finished seventh with a distance of 30.88m. 
  • Bea Parr placed second in the 5,000, crossing the finish line in 17:56.51.
