#4 Middlebury Falls to #5 Tufts 6-3

In a battle between a pair of top-five ranked squads, fourth-ranked Middlebury fell to #5 Tufts 6-3. The Panthers drop to 3-1 overall, but will be back in action tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. when they take on Bates. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Jumbos swept all three doubles matches, grabbing points at #2 (8-3), #3 (8-3) and #1 (8-5) to take a 3-0 lead. 
  • Julian Wu opened the singles portion of the match with a straight-sets victory (6-2, 6-0) in the fifth slot to cut the deficit to 3-1.
  • Tufts increased its lead to 4-1 following a victory at #4.
  • Noah Laber battled back after dropping the first set to claim a three-set win (4-6, 6-2, 6-1) in the top spot and make it 4-2.
  • The Jumbos clinched the match with a victory in the third slot (7-5, 3-6, 5-7), before taking a 6-2 lead with a win at #6.
  • Aidan Harris closed the night with a triumph in the second spot (6-4, 6-7(8), 10-7) to make the final score 6-3.
NOTES
  • Wu secured his 10th-consecutive win on Saturday, improving his record to 12-2 overall.
  • This afternoon's contest was the 35th meeting between Middlebury and Tufts. The Panthers hold a 21-14 edge in the overall series.
