DMR Earns All-American Honors, Rubio Finishes 12th at NCAA Championships

The women's DMR team following their sixth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
The distance medley relay (DMR) team of Kate Kenny, Michelle Louie, Audrey Grimes and Ciara Dale earned All-American honors, while Emily Rubio made her debut at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. After the opening day of competition, Chicago, Wisconsin La-Crosse and Loras sit in a three-way tie for first place with 19 points each.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The DMR squad finished in sixth place, crossing the finish line in 11:46.36. The team bested its previous top time by 4.22 seconds. Grimes opened the event with a 3:37.65 in the 1,200-meters, before Louie and Dale ran the 400 and 800 in 57:58 and 2:15.60, respectively. Kenny closed the race with a 4:55.52 in the mile to secure a top-six finish.
  • In the pentathlon, Rubio placed 12th overall with 3,365 points. The first-year earned a top-10 spot in 60m hurdles and high jump, and was top 15 in the 800m and long jump. Rubio's best performance came in the high jump, where she finished fifth with a height of 1.61m.

NOTES
  • Rubio is the first athlete to represent the Panthers in the pentathlon since the 2017 NCAA Championships.
  • Middlebury last won the DMR in 2012 and has had 10 teams earn All-American accolades. 
  • This is Louie's second All-American honor as she was a member of the DMR team which finished fourth at the 2022 NCAA Championships.
