The Middlebury alpine ski team will send four competitors to the 2023 NCAA Championships next week. The four-day event will take place March 8-11 at Mt. Van Hoevenberg and Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, New York with St. Lawrence University serving as the host school.

ABOUT MIDDLEBURY
- Middlebury is making its 62nd all-time appearance in the NCAA Championships.
- The Panthers have landed in the top-10 places in 55 championships and recorded a top-five showing 15 times. Program highlights include a runner-up finish in 1961 and a pair of third-place finishes (1955, 1956).Â
- The alpine team has posted numerous top-five laurels this carnival season. The women won the slalom title during the Williams Carnival and were second in the same discipline at Saint Michael's. The men claimed a pair of fourth-place efforts at Bates and Williams.Â
- Combined with the nordic team, Middlebury tallied a quartet of top-three carnival finishes this season.
- Representing Middlebury on the women's side will be Alexandra Cossette, Sophia Tozzi and Sofia Yubero, while Bradshaw Underhill will compete for the men.
- Yubero and Underhill will each be competing in their second-consecutive NCAA Championship for the Panthers, while Cosette was an alternate last season but didn't compete.Â
WOMEN'S PREVIEW
Cossette
- Cossette was recently selected as an EISA All-East Second-Team selection.
- She has earned a quartet of top-10 finishes this season, including four results in the top-seven spots.
- Cossette's best race came at the Saint Michael's Carnival when she finished in fourth in the slalom, while she placed fifth during the giant slalom (GS) at the New Hampshire Carnival.
Tozzi
- Tozzi joined her teammate as a member of the EISA All-East Second Team.
- She has gained momentum as the season has progressed, finishing in the top-10 spots in three races.
- The highlight of her rookie season thus far was a podium finish in the slalom at the Williams Carnival. Tozzi posted a time just 0.2 seconds behind the winner to earn second-place honors.
Yubero
- Yubero enters her second NCAA Championship after finishing 28th in the slalom and 30th in the GS in 2022.
- She has been a consistent scorer throughout the entire carnival season for the Panthers.
- Yubero has claimed a top-five finish in three races, just missing the podium with a fourth-place showing during the slalom at New Hampshire.
- She also finished fifth in the slalom at the Saint Michael's and Williams Carnivals.
MEN'S PREVIEW
Underhill
- Underhill is competing in his second NCAA Championship. A season ago, he was 11th in the GS and 21st in the slalom.
- The Panther has produced a solid campaign for the Panthers, finishing in the top-20 places five times.
- He finished in sixth place during the GS on the opening day of the New Hampshire Carnival.
- Underhill was 13th in the slalom at Saint Michael's and posted the 15th-quickest combined time in the GS at Harvard.
