Women’s Basketball Falls Against #11 Trinity

The Middlebury women's basketball team fell by a 60-47 score to nationally-ranked Trinity on Saturday afternoon.

 HIGHLIGHTS

  • The two teams traded baskets early in the contest. With 4:08 remaining in the first quarter, a three-point field goal by Reagan McDonald gave Middlebury a 10-7 edge. 
  • Trinity responded with a 9-2 run to take a 16-12 lead into the break.
  • The Panthers cut the deficit to just two (18-16) at the 6:48 mark following a jumper from Alexa Mustafaj.
  • The Bantams extended their lead throughout the remainder of the half, rattling off a 12-4 run capped by a three-pointer by Emma Wax, to hold a 10-point advantage at halftime (30-20).
  • At the 6:24 mark in the third quarter, a jump shot from Reilly Campbell pushed the Trinity lead to 16 (40-24).
  • Trailing 47-29, a pair of free throws from Claire Miller brought Middlebury to within 16 heading into the final quarter.
  • The Panthers began the final stanza with a 7-2 spurt, highlighted by a basket from Gabby Stuart with 7:16 to go, to get back within 13 (51-38).  
  • The Bantams held off Middlebury's fourth-quarter surge to pick up the 60-47 victory. 
NOTES
  • The two teams met for the 31st time on Saturday afternoon.
  • With two made threes today, McDonald has sunk a shot from beyond the arc in 26 of her last 33 games.
