Three School Records & Pair of First-Place Finishes Pace Panthers On Day One of New Englands

The 4x200 meter relay team of Katie Bruno, Melissa White, Eva Kaiden and Annabel Cloney registered a time of 1:43.92 to break the Middlebury school record.
The Middlebury women's track and field team broke three school records, and had a pair of first-place finishes, on the opening day of the Division III New England Championships. Williams leads the way after day one with 49 total points, while Tufts is second (37 points) and the Panthers round out the top three (31 points).
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • In the pentathlon, Emily Rubio was crowned Division III New England Champion as she broke her own school record, winning three of the five events and scoring 3,450 points to take home first place.
  • Cady Barns finished in fourth in the long jump, with a leap of 5.60 meters, which set a new program mark by .01 meters. 
  • In the 4x200-meter relay, the quartet of Melissa White, Annabel Cloney, Katie Bruno and Eva Kaiden smashed the school record, registering a time of 1:43.92, which was good for third place.
  • The relay team of Audrey Grimes, Michelle Louie, Ciara Dale and Kate Kenny took home the top spot in the distance medley relay (DMR) with a time of 12:00.21, just under four seconds faster than the second-place team.
  • Zoe Wang tied for eighth place in the pole vault, with a height of 3.48 meters.
 The Panthers return to The TRACK at New Balance on Saturday for the second day of the  Division III New England Championships.
