Women’s Track & Field Wins Seven Events At Final Home Meet Of The Winter

Lilly Wurtz won the weight throw on Saturday with a career-best toss.
The Middlebury women's track and field team won seven events while hosting the Middlebury Field and Track Meet. The event featured no team scoring and was held in Virtue Field House. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Michelle Louie was a two-time winner for the Panthers. She led the field to the line in the 60m dash (8.13) and claimed the 200 (27.12).
  • Briana Johnson broke the tape in third during the 200 with a clocking of 27.48. 
  • In the weight throw, Lilly Wurtz hurled the implement at a career-best distance of 42'3.5" on her first attempt of the day to claim the event title. Jaxon Palmer was right behind in second place at 40'8.75".
  • Cady Barns won the long jump, hitting the sand with a winning mark of 17'8", while Olive Lawrence was third in the event at 16'5.25" and third in the 60m dash with a time of 8.17.
  • In the triple jump, Lucy Pollitt claimed the crown with a career-high distance of 36'10.5".
  • Third-place showings were tallied by Julia Tulimieri with a toss of 36'4.25" in the shot put and Zoe Wang with a height of 10'4" in the pole vault.
  • Emily Rubio stopped the clock with a victorious time of 9.48 in the 60 hurdles, while Violet Ross won the mile with a time of 5:35.28.
  • The final event win was tallied by Bea Parr during the 800 with a career-best time of 2:27.64.
  • Ashley Raynor clocked a second-place time in the 400 (1:03.43), while Athena Nooney was third (1:09.39).
NOTES
  • Louie, Rubio, Parr and Ross each had quick turnarounds, competing at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational last night. 
 The team is idle next weekend before competing at the Division III New England Championships in Boston at The Track at New Balance on February 24-25.
