Amy Griffin Crowned NFHCA National Player of the Year

Amy Griffin was named NFHCA National Player of the Year.
Amy Griffin of the top-ranked Middlebury field hockey team was crowned the 2023 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Player of the Year. Griffin is the third Panther to earn the prestigious honor, joining Lauren Greer '13 and Erin Nicholas '22 who won the award on three separate occasions.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Griffin scooped up a multitude of awards this season. The midfielder was named the NFHCA Regional Player of the Year and the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, while also earning All-American, All-Region and All-NESCAC First Team honors.
  • The Panther paced the NESCAC and was fifth in the nation in points (56) and goals (23) during the campaign. She also registered 10 assists, which was fourth in the league. 
  • Griffin's 56 points this season is fifth in the program's single-season history, while her 23 goals are tied for seventh.
  • This fall, Griffin started all 22 games and recorded at least a point in 18 contests. The midfielder also registered two or more points in 15 games.
  • She tallied seven multi-goal games this year and scored four game-winning markers, including the deciding tallies in the NCAA Semifinal victory over Babson and the NCAA Second Round triumph over William Smith.
  • Griffin currently sits fourth in the Middlebury record books with 35 career assists.
