The #24 Middlebury men's basketball team mounted an incredible comeback in the first half, but it wasn't enough as the University of Redlands triumphed 83-58 over the Panthers.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Bulldogs got out to a quick start, rattling off eight-straight points over the opening 3:15 of action. Kendrick Currey began and closed the span with shots from beyond the arc for the 8-0 lead.
- Redlands continued pulling away, taking a 23-7 advantage on a layup from Malachi Miller with just under 10 minutes remaining.
- Middlebury responded with an impressive 18-4 run, cutting the deficit down to single-l digits (31-25) with just 1:31 remaining. During the span, Sam Stevens had eight points, including a pair of threes, while Jaden Bobbett sank six shots.
- The Bulldogs answered with a pair of shots from beyond the arc, closing out the half with a 37-25 lead.
- Out of the break, Redlands slowly increased its advantage, taking its largest lead of the game (58-39) on a jumper by Jhace Boston with 11:27 remaining.
- A layup by Evan Flaks and a pair of free throws by David Brennan cut the deficit to 58-44 at the 10:13 mark, but that was as close as the Panthers would get.
- The Bulldogs continued to pull away, easing to the 83-58 victory.
NOTES
- The programs met for the first time tonight in the sport of basketball.
Middlebury is back in action on Saturday, taking on host school Wittenberg at 7:30 p.m.
