Shelburne becomes the first field hockey player to earn the Elite 90 award.

Meg Shelburne of the #1 Middlebury field hockey team has earned the prestigious NCAA Elite 90 Award.
ABOUT THE AWARD
- The award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among peers.
- The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA) participating at the site of the finals for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.
ABOUT SHELBURNE
- Shelburne becomes just the fifth student-athlete in Middlebury history to earn the award, and the first field hockey player.
- Majoring in history and political science, the senior has a perfect 4.00 grade-point-average.
- The Panther is part of a defense that has allowed just 10 goals this fall, while accumulating 12 shutouts. The unit has also not conceded a marker in the last 195:13 of action heading into the final four this weekend.
- Shelburne has started in nine games this season, while playing in 16 of 20.
- The defender has helped the squad run its winning streak to 22-consecutive triumphs, while capturing its sixth-straight NESCAC Championship.
Shelburne and the Panthers continue their pursuit of the program's sixth-straight NCAA Championship when they take on #2 Babson on Friday in the national semifinals.
