The Middlebury women's basketball team was edged in overtime by Williams 56-50 in a back-and-forth contest on Saturday afternoon.

HIGHLIGHTS

The Ephs took an early 10-4 lead after 3:45 in the opening stanza following two-straight three-pointers from Kate Keenan.
Trailing 12-5, Augusta Dixon knocked down a jumper from close range to bring Middlebury within five heading into the second quarter.
At the 8:36 mark, the Panthers went on a 6-0 run, capped by a Dixon layup, to cut Williams down to just two (16-14).
With just over a minute remaining, the Ephs took their largest lead of the game, as Keenan hit a jump shot to increase the advantage to 31-23.
Gabby Stuart responded by sinking a layup as time expired to cut the deficit to six (31-25) heading into the locker room.
Middlebury began the second half on a 5-0 run, capped by a three-pointer from Alexa Mustafaj, to trim the Williams lead to one (31-30).
Trailing 37-32 with 4:00 left in the quarter, Dixon tallied four-unanswered points to bring the Panthers within one (37-36).
Williams opened the fourth quarter by scoring four straight. Middlebury answered with a 9-0 run over the next 3:18, highlighted by seven points from Stuart, to take a 45-41 lead.
Middlebury led 48-45 with under 30 seconds to go, but Maddy Mandyck sank a shot from beyond the arc WITH 26 seconds left to send the game to overtime.
In the extra period, defense was key for both teams, with neither squad scoring for the first 2:17.
With the game tied at 50-50, Arianna Gerig recorded an old-fashioned three-point play to put the Ephs ahead by three. From there, the visitors hit three more free throws to close out the game 56-50.
