Panthers Win Snowflake Invite As Cady Barns Breaks 60m School Record

Teammates celebrate with Cady Barns after record-breaking performance.
The Middlebury women's track and field team dominated competition in its first outing of the year, claiming the Snowflake Invitational with 234.5 points. Cady Barns helped lead the squad, breaking the school record in the 60-meter dash. She now holds a combined five indoor and outdoor school records. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Barns stopped the clock in 7.89 seconds to claim the school record, erasing the previous mark by a tenth of a second. Katie Bruno followed in third place with a clocking of 8.13 seconds.
  • Middlebury swept the long jump, taking the top-four spots. Barns led the effort with a mark of 5.24m, while Emily Rubio was next at 5.18m. 
  • Rubio claimed the top spot in the high jump (1.60m) and the 60m hurdles (9.34) in her Panther debut. 
  • The 4x400m relay quartet of Ciara Dale, Barns, Michelle Louie and Anna Krouse topped the field with a time of 4:10.08.
  • The Panthers won both throwing events, with Jaxon Palmer claiming the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 12.28m and Julia Tulimieri triumphing in the shot put (12.37m). Lilly Wurtz finished in third place in the latter event with a mark of 10.71m. 
  • Zoe Wang cleared the bar at 3.10m in the pole vault to top the field, while Leah Granger earned runner-up honors (2.95m). 
  • In the 500m, Dale crossed the line first (1:18.77), while Cate Kreutzen was right behind (1:24.80) in second. 
  • Middlebury took home third through seventh in the 200m, with Eva Kaiden leading the way with a time of 26.53.
  • Rounding out the first-place finishes was Bea Parr in the 3,000 (10:23.76), while Kate Kenny earned runner-up laurels with a clocking of 10:28.13. 
  • Mary Elliott was second in the 400m with a time of 1:01.62, while Anna Krouse was right behind in third (1:02.91).  
NOTES
  • Barns and Mackenzie Daggitt both recorded personal-best times in the 60m and the 200m. 
 
The Panthers are back inside Virtue Field House next weekend when they host the Middlebury Winter Classic.
