The Middlebury women's track and field team picked up a pair of first-place performances and broke two school records, as the #15 Panthers finished sixth (47 points) at the 2022 New England Division III Championship held at Williams. Massachusetts Institute of Technology won the event with 103 points, followed by #8 Worcester Polytechnic Institute with 85. Middlebury will compete at the Open New England Championships next weekend hosted by Bryant University.
The top-eight finishers in each event over the two-day meet earned All-New England honors.
Audrey Grimes won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a person-best time of 11:05.29, while teammate Tatum Peskin (11:59.66) was eighth in the same event. Kate Kenny was the first to cross the finish line in the 1,500m, boasting a top time of 4:38.53. Katelyn Pease finished third in the same event with a time of 4:40.20.
In the triple jump, Cady Barns broke her own school record, setting a new mark of 11.92 meters to place third.
Middlebury set a school record in the 4x400, as Nicole Johnson, Cassie Kearney, Michelle Louie and Ciara Dale teamed up for a time of 3:51.52 to place eighth. They topped the old mark of 3:52.77 from 2019.
