The women's team celebrates after being crowned NESCAC Champions.
The Middlebury women's track and field team had six individuals and three relays earn all-conference accolades en route to the program's third NESCAC Championship on Saturday. Head coach

Jason McCallum and Kevin Chu were tabbed the 2022 NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year. The honors are earned by an individual or relay team that places in the top-three at the meet.
Cassie Kearney (Rockland, Mass.) highlighted the meet for the Panthers, winning a pair of individual events, while being a part of a top relay squad. Kearney won the 800-meters with a personal-best time of 2:09.51, which was 2.32 seconds faster than the next runner. In the 1,500m, Kearney ran away with the title, crossing the finish line in 4:26.64, nearly four seconds in front of the runner-up. Both times were NESCAC Championship meet records, qualified her for the Division III New England Championships and currently rank third in the country.
Kearney teammed up with
Emily Bulczynski (Newton, Mass.),
Audrey Grimes (York, Maine) and
Winnie Wang (Newton, Mass.) to win the 4x800m relay. The quartet stopped the clock in 9:17.10 to claim the crown.
Jaxon Palmer (Shelburne Falls, Mass.) recorded the fourth victory for the Panthers in the meet, tossing the javelin to a triumphant distance of 114'4".
Runner-up efforts on the track were earned by
Ciara Dale (Hingham, Mass.) in the 400m hurdles and
Kate Kenny (New York, N.Y.) during the 3,000m steeplechase. Dale stopped the clock with a personal-record time of 1:03.27. Kenny crossed the finish line in 10:51.61, lowering her collegiate-best time by 5.55 seconds.
Mary Scott Robinson (Black Mountain, N.C.) hurled the shot put to a second-place distance of 37'11.5".
A pair of relays rounded out the All-NESCAC honorees for Middlebury with third-place finishes. The 4x100m relay team of
Joely Virzi (Cincinnati, Ohio),
Michelle Louie (Los Altos, Calif),
Eva Kaiden (Bronx, N.Y.) and
Cady Barns (Manlius, N.Y.) improved its own school record in the event on Saturday, finishing third with a clocking of 48.53.
Nicole Johnson (Madison, N.J.), Louie, Dale and
Elle Thompson (Dallas, Texas) stopped had the third-fastest time (3:56.13) in the 4x400m relay.
This was the fourth time that Middlebury earned coaching staff of the year honors.
Select athletes are back in action on Friday and Saturday when they travel to Williams for the Division III New England Championships.
