Kate Kenny finished with runner-up honors in the steeplechase.
The 17th-ranked Middlebury women's track and field team had a solid showing on the second day of the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championship. The Panthers had five top-10 finishes in a meet that featured competition from all three NCAA divisions, with the top-eight finishers earning All-New England honors. Middlebury finished in eighth place overall out of 46 teams with 38 points. UMass-Amherst won the meet (74.75 points), followed by the University of Rhode Island (61 points) and Quinnipiac (54 points).

A limited number of athletes are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Williamstown, Massachusetts for the Williams Final Qualifier.

Middlebury dominated the 800 meters, with four Panthers placing in the top 10 with personal-record (PR) times. Cassie Kearney led the field with a winning time of 2:08.05. Her clocking was a PR by over a full second, moving up one spot in the Division III rankings to second with her time. Nicole Johnson had a breakout performance, setting her PR time by over three seconds with a second-place finish. She was right behind Kearney with a time of 2:09.48, moving from 17th in DIII all the way up to third. Katelyn Pease was next for the Panthers with a PR of 2:13.26 to finish in seventh place, while Emily Bulczynski was right behind in eighth (2:13.41) with a personal-best clocking.

Kate Kenny finished with runner-up honors in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:55.10. Audrey Grimes placed 11th in the event with a clocking of 11:27.33.

The 4x400m relay quartet of Michelle Louie, Johnson, Jacqueline Topping and Kearney crossed the finish line in third place, nearly setting a new school record with a time of 3:51.57. The time was only 0.05 seconds off the program mark set just a week ago.
