The eighth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team (7-4, 3-1) earned four points in singles play to rally for a 5-4 triumph at NESCAC foe Amherst on Saturday. The Panthers continue conference play on Sunday, heading to Hamilton for a 10:00 a.m. start.
The #9 Mammoths (5-5, 3-2) claimed two of the available three points during doubles play, winning the top two positions. Middlebury cut the deficit in half at #3, as
Claudia Miller and
Sahana Raman posted an 8-5 victory.
In singles, the Panthers tied the score at 2-2 when
Brinlea La Barge won 6-2, 6-4 in the second spot and took their first lead at 3-2 after a victory by
Kavina Amin (6-2, 6-2) at #6. After Amherst tied the score following a win at first singles,Â
Amy Delman came out on top 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 in the fourth slot and
Claudia Miller clinched the victory with a 6-4, 6-1 decision at #3. The Mammoths claimed the final point of the match at fifth singles for the 5-4 final
