The eighth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team (10-4, 6-1) picked up its fourth-straight win on Saturday, blanking NESCAC foe Trinity (5-9, 0-8) on the road by a 9-0 score. The Panthers return to action on Sunday with a 10:00 a.m. match at Connecticut College.
The Middlebury doubles team of
Brinlea La Barge and
Sami Remis got out to a quick start, earning the first point of the match at #2 with an 8-0 shutout.
Claudia Miller and
Sahana Raman paired in the third spot, easing to an 8-3 victory to double the Panther advantage. The Middlebury top tandem of
Amy Delman and
Gena Huang claimed the team's third point with an 8-5 win.
The Panthers picked up all six points in singles without dropping a set.
Caitlin Neal didn't surrender a game during her victory at the bottom of the lineup (6-0, 6-0), while
Kavina Amin clinched the match one spot above with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph. Delman made the score 6-0 in favor of the visitors with a 6-3, 6-2 win at #4, while Raman cruised in the second position (6-2, 6-2). La Barge recorded the 20th win in her career, earning a 6-1, 6-2 victory atop the lineup, while Miller completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the third position for the final 9-0 score.
