The fourth-ranked Middlebury men's tennis team triumphed 8-1 over Skidmore and shutout Trinity 9-0 on Saturday to extend its winning streak to eight-straight matches. The Panthers (12-2) travel to Connecticut College on Sunday for a 2:00 p.m. start.
Playing at #1 doubles,
Stan Morris and
David Vilys won 8-4 against Skidmore. The pair tallied their seventh-consecutive triumph as a duo in the afternoon with an 8-2 victory over Trinity.
Noah Laber and
Aidan Harris played a pair of tight contests in the second spot, coming away with two tiebreaker wins. In the third doubles slot,
Zachary Hilty and
Neel Epstein edged the Thoroughbreds 8-7(4), before cruising past the Bantams 8-3.
Harris, Laber and
Zihao Yuan each won a pair of singles matches on the day. Yuan's straight-set shutout (6-0, 6-0) against Trinity was his 12th-straight triumph this season.
Morris was victorious in the top spot against Skidmore (6-2, 6-2), while Epstein claimed a point at #3 (6-1, 6-4) over Trinity and Hilty tallied a win (6-2, 6-4) in the fifth spot against Skidmore.
