#8 Women’s Tennis Falls At Fifth-Ranked Wesleyan

The eighth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team fell by a 7-2 score on Saturday afternoon to #5 Wesleyan in a match played at the John Wood Memorial Tennis Courts. The Panthers (6-4, 2-1) continue their NESCAC slate next Saturday when they travel to ninth-ranked Amherst for a 10:00 a.m. match.

All three doubles matches featured close scores, with the Cardinals (9-0, 4-0) edging Middlebury 8-7 (3) and 8-6 in the top and third positions, respectively. In the second spot, the Panther duo of Sami Remis and Brinlea La Barge tallied an 8-5 triumph to pull the visitors to within one (2-1) headed to singles.

During singles play, Middlebury recorded its second point when Claudia Miller won the first set at #4 by a 6-1 score and led 5-0 in the second before her opponent retired. Wesleyan claimed straight-set victories in four of the remaining five flights, as Sahana Raman dropped a three-set decision at the top of the lineup (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) for the 7-2 final.
