Peyton Belsher cleared a personal-best height in the high jump.
The 10th-ranked Middlebury women's track and field team claimed first place out of 19 teams at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College. The Panthers won the two-day meet with 118.5 points, followed by Bowdoin in second place (110 points), while Amherst (95 points) rounded out the top-three. Middlebury returns home on Saturday, hosting Union and Plattsburgh State at 11:00 a.m. for senior day.
The meet was highlighted by three individual victories on Friday night, a trio of runner-up honors over the two-day span and 10 top-five finishes on Saturday.
The 4x100-meter relay quartet of
Eva Kaiden,
Michelle Louie,
Jaqueline Topping and
Cady Barns placed second with a time of 48.71, just a half a second behind the first-place squad.
Jaxon Palmer earned runner-up laurels in the javelin, tossing the implement 35.93-meters.
Louie sprinted to a pair of personal-best times, placing fifth in the 200m (25.40) and sixth in the 100m (12.39).
Ciara Dale finished in third place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.13.
Peyton Belsher cleared a personal-record height of 1.57m in the high jump to claim third place. Barns bounced to a mark of 11.28m in the triple jump to place third.
Mary Scott Robinson finished in fourth place in the shot put with a toss of 59.62m.
Macy Daggitt earned a pair of fifth-place finishes with a personal-best mark of 5.22m in the long jump and a height of 1.47m in the high jump.
Nicole Johnson finished fifth in the 400m with a clocking of 59.62.
Sixth-place finishes came from Barns in the long jump (5.17m) and
Reilly Isler in the javelin (31.92m).
