Connor Randall and Marco Motroni were on the 4x100 relay.
The Middlebury men's track and field team finished in fifth place out of 20 teams at the Silfen Invitational this weekend hosted by Connecticut College. Tufts won the event with 125 points, followed by Amherst (99 points), Bates (93.5 points), Springfield (88 points) and the Panthers (76 points). Middlebury returns home on Saturday, hosting Union and Plattsburgh State at 11:00 a.m. for senior day.
The meet was highlighted by 14 top-10 finishes over the two-day event.
On Saturday,
Daniel Brey earned runner-up laurels with a toss of 45.69-meters in the hammer throw.
The 4x100m relay squad comprised of
Marco Motroni,
Finn Warner,
Connor Randall and
Aaron Tobias finished in fourth place with a time of 43.82.
Caleb Fineske placed fourth in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 13.51m. Fifth-place finishes came from
Jefferson Hill in the 110m hurdles (15.87) and
Xander Swann in the 400m hurdles (58.19).
Samuel Maxwell tossed the discuss 39.00m, good for 10th place. In the 100m, Motroni recorded a personal-best clocking of 11.15 to place 10th. The time was the fastest run in the event this year.
