Top-Ranked Middlebury Tallies 17th-Straight Win On Kohn Field

The top-ranked Middlebury women's lacrosse team (8-0) extended a pair of win streaks with a 22-1 victory over Plymouth State (5-3) on Tuesday afternoon. The hosts have now won 33-straight games and tallied 17-consecutive victories on Kohn Field. Middlebury travels to seventh-ranked Tufts on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. start, while the visitors play at UMass-Dartmouth on the same day at 1:00 p.m.
 
The hosts opened the scoring just 36 seconds into the game and never looked back. Lily Riseberg sent a pass from behind the goal to Susan Rowley, before Rowley scored her seventh goal of the season for the 1-0 edge. Riseberg factored into four of the next six markers to give Middlebury a 7-0 advantage with 9:44 to go. Sara Ellinghaus tallied her first career goal in blue and white to make it 12-0 at the end of the first quarter. 
 
With 13:25 showing on the clock in the second quarter, Ellinghaus scored again to make it 13-0 heading into halftime. 
 
Kelcey Dion and Maggie Coughlin traded the first four goals of the third quarter, before Jamee Numan found the back of the net to put Middlebury up 18-0 after three stanzas of action. Numan scored twice in the final quarter to complete her hat trick and round out the host's scoring with 22 goals. Plymouth State spoiled the shutout with a free-position tally by Devon Mello for the 22-1 final. 
 
Jane Earley (4G, 1A) and Riseberg (2G, 3A) paced Middlebury with five points apiece. Numan tallied a hat trick during the victory, while Coughlin and Dion each scored twice and dished out an assist. Erin Nicholas led all players with five draw controls. Annie Enrietto earned the win in goal with one save in 30 minutes, while Gina Driscoll stopped one shot in 19:56. Allie Batista closed out the game in goal for Middlebury with 10:04 of action.
 
Piper Sherbert suffered the loss in net for Plymouth State, making four saves. Emily Le Do led all players with three groundballs.
