Emily Bulczynski won the 1,000m run on Saturday.
The Middlebury women's indoor track and field team recorded numerous outstanding efforts on Saturday, competing at the Tufts Cupid Challenge in Massachusetts. It was a non-scoring meet, featuring numerous programs from New England. The Panthers return to action next weekend, competing in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
The Panthers earned three event titles during Saturday's competition.
Bea Parr crossed the finish line first during the 5,000-meter (17:44.03), while teammate
Morgane Orcutt was just behind in second (18:40.20).
Cassie Kearney led the field to the line during the mile (5:05.95), while
Katelyn Pease was fourth (5:18.44). The third win came from
Emily Bulczynski, who posted a time of 3:03.32 to claim the 1,000m.
Middlebury tallied top-four finishes in multiple events.
Nicole Johnson was second in the 800m (2:16.21), while the 4x400m relay team of
Michelle Louie,
Julia Munz,
Nicole Johnson and
Elle Thompson was also second (4:04.75). The 4x200m relay quartet of Louie,
Ciara Dale,
Ashley Raynor and
Joely Virzi crossed the line in third place (1:47.52).
Kearney finished third in the 3,000m (10:10.85) for the Panthers. Fourth-place showings came from Louie in the 60m dash (8.01) and
Briana Johnson in the 200m (27.40).
During field events,
Cady Barns leapt to a distance of 18'4.25" during the long jump to finish second.
Zoe Wang finished third in the pole vault at 11'1.75", while
Mary Scott Robinson was fourth in both the shot put (35'4") and the weight throw (41'10.5").
