#14 Men’s Basketball Slips Past NVU-Johnson 65-57

Noah Osher scored 18 points and hit three three-pointers in the victory.
Box Score The Middlebury men's basketball team rallied late in the second half to defeat a defensively sound Northern Vermont University-Johnson team. The Panthers overcame a 10-point first-half deficit to win 65-57.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The first half began with both teams exchanging baskets, before Alex Sobel gave the Panthers an 8-6 edge with a layup at the 16:09 mark.
  • With Middlebury holding a 16-12 edge with 6:15 remaining, NVU-Johnson rattled off a 19-5 run, running out to a 10-point advantage (31-21).
  • The Badgers were able to maintain an eight-point edge heading into the locker room.
  • The Panthers slowly chipped away at the deficit to begin the second half. With 2:03 elapsed, back-to-back buckets from Jaden Bobbett and Sobel cut the lead to six (38-32).
  • Middlebury moved within one point (40-39) at the 13:58 mark following a pair of threes from Noah Osher on two-straight possessions.
  • Osher gave the Panthers a 43-42 lead just two minutes later, connecting on a long jump shot.
  • Sobel tallied six points over a span of 50 seconds gave Middlebury a 60-53 advantage with 4:39 left in the second half, which proved to be too much for NVU-Johnson, as the Panthers hung on for the 65-57 win. 
NOTES
  • Sobel and Osher both recorded strong overall performances in the victory. Sobel registered 23 points, six rebounds and six blocked shots while shooting 64% (9-14) from the field. Osher poured in 18 points, including a game-high three shots from beyond the arc.
  • The Panthers claimed their 23rd win against NVU-Johnson. They have won every contest between the two sides.
