Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

#12 Men’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten Through Seven Games

The 12th-ranked Middlebury men's soccer team downed Eastern Nazarene 5-0, extending its unbeaten streak to seven (6-0-1). Goalie Ryan Grady recorded his 26th career shutout, moving him into a tie for first place in the Panther record books.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury looked to get on the board with 7:59 expired after Kenan Ulku-Steiner sent a cross from the left into the box. Kyle Nilsson one-timed the ball, but his close-range attempt was thwarted by Lions' goalie Antonio Soto Valente.
  • Jordan Saint-Louis converted a penalty kick during the 23rd minute to take a 1-0 edge.
  • With 51:23 expired, Saint-Louis threatened to score again. He flicked the ball over a defender and one-timed his pass on the doorstep, but it skipped just wide left.
  • The Panthers continued pressure, rattling off four-unanswered goals.
  • Nilsson deked a defender and sent a nice pass to Ben Powers, who slipped the ball into the lower-right corner for the 2-0 advantage at the 55:06 mark.
  • Less than four minutes later, Nilsson headed the ball over an Eastern Nazarene player and Liam Sloan was on the other end to one-time the feed into the goal, making it 3-0.
  • With 66:31 elapsed, Middlebury struck again. Ethan Coomber sent a cross from the right side into the middle of the field, forcing the keeper to come charging out. Brendan Barry chested the ball past the Lions' goalie and buried the ball into the bottom right corner for the 4-0 lead.
  • Jacob Charles closed out the scoring for the Panthers with just over five minutes remaining. Daniel Kaye sent a through ball to Charles who touched it just right of a defender to open up the scoring lane and capitalize on his tally of the season.
  • The Lions only quality scoring bid came after the kickoff from the ensuing goal. Franco Arteaga rifled a shot from the top of the 18, but his attempt hit the crossbar and a Middlebury defender kicked the ball out of danger to preserve the 5-0 triumph.

NOTES
  • Five different Panthers scored during the game.
  • Barry, Charles and Powers recorded their first tallies of the season.
  • Middlebury's unbeaten streak (6-0-1) dates back to September 20.
