The Middlebury men's soccer team utilized a strong second-half to upset ninth-ranked Wesleyan 1-0.

Ryan Grady had a trio of critical second-half stops to help lead the Panthers past the Cardinals.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Wesleyan produced a two-on-one situation at the 9:51 mark of the opening half, but Grady came charging off his line and saved the chance with his right foot to deny Noah Hartzfeld.
- The Panthers had their first quality scoring opportunity with 14:58 elapsed when Casey Lund headed a ball on a set piece toward the Cardinal goal, but goalie Liam Devanny leapt to catch it on the left post.
- Seconds later after a Cardinal turnover deep in its defensive end, a left-footed drive from the top of the box by Liam Sloan was saved by Devanny moving to his right.
- At the 32:57 mark, a shot on the doorstep by Wesleyan's Ethan Barrett was saved by a Panther defender on the near post.
- Andrew Juarez had the best opportunity of the half at the 43:53 mark for the Panthers. His right-footed shot from the top of the box hit the crossbar and caromed up and over the Cardinal goal to keep the match scoreless at the half.
- Just over five minutes into the second stanza, Wesleyan's Oliver Clarke lofted a shot from the top of the box that Grady punched up and over the crossbar.
- Wesleyan's Matthew Rubinstein provided a golden chance to take the lead minutes later, dribbling down the middle before ripping a bending right-footed shot that Grady made a sprawling save with his left hand and punched wide of the far post.
- The Panthers tallied the contest's lone goal with 18:55 elapsed in the second half. Farrell volleyed a ball at the top of the box with his right foot and tucked it inside the right post for the 1-0 lead.
- At the 74:23 mark, Middlebury looked to grab a two-goal edge, but Kyle Nilsson's bid on the doorstep was saved by Devanny who pounced on the bouncing shot.
- With just under 12 minutes remaining, Ruehlemann looked to knot the match with a curling shot that Grady redirected wide with his fingertips on his right hand.
- The Cardinals kept the pressure on for the equalizer, but an attempt off the head of Dane Harmaty at the 83:32 mark was saved by Grady's outstretched hands leaping to his right to preserve the 1-0 victory.
NOTES
- Grady posted his second-straight shutout and the 24th clean sheet of his career, moving him into a tie for second place in the Middlebury's record books.
- The goal was Farrell's first of the season and fifth of his career.
- Farrell is the eighth Panther to score a goal this season.
