Women’s Track & Field Wins Middlebury Invitational

Michelle Louie won the 60m dash and the 200m.
The women's track and field team won the Middlebury Invitational with 229 points on Saturday in Virtue Field House, propelled by eight first-place finishes. The University of Vermont (UVM) was second with 217 points, while St. Lawrence rounded out the top-three (80 points). Middlebury travels to Massachusetts next Saturday for the Tufts' Cupid Challenge. 
 
Cady Barns set a school record in the triple jump with a first-place leap of 37'3.25". The previous mark of 36'9.5" was set by Kelley Coughlan in 2009. Zoe Wang was second in the event with a mark of 34'11.25". In the pole vault, Wang successfully cleared a height of 11'1.75" on her third attempt, placing second behind UVM's Sofia Whittmann, who succeeded on her second chance. 
 
Michelle Louie recorded a pair of first-place finishes. She stopped the clock in 8.12 seconds in the 60m dash, before crossing the finish line in 26.73 in the 200m. 
 
Katelyn Pease was crowned the champion in the 800m. Her time of 2:20.87 set a New Balance Foundation Track record, erasing the previous mark from a week ago by almost five seconds. Bridget Ulian finished the event in third with a clocking of 2:29.16. 
 
Nicole Johnson ran away with the 1,000m, finishing 11 seconds ahead of the second-place runner. Her time of 2:59.99 set a new personal record by 14 seconds. 
 
In the 600m, Elle Thompson had the top time (1:41.48), while Audrey Grimes followed in third place with a personal-best clocking of 1:44.33. 
 
Bea Parr won the 3,000m with a time of 10:16.59, while Kate Kenny was right behind in second (10:28.09). 
 
Middlebury dominated the 400m with four Panthers placing in the top five. Cassie Kearney led the way in second (59.94), followed by Louie (1:00.15), Ciara Dale (1:01.29) and Emma Hills (1:02.66).
 
The Panther 4x400m relay team of Julia Munz, Pease, Kearney and Johnson took the top spot with a time of 4:05.59.
 
Meaghan McEnroe raced to a second-place finish in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 9.98. Mary Scott Robinson placed second in the shot put with a heave of 38'1.25".
