Results
The Middlebury women's track and field team opened the 2021 outdoor season with a 97-58 dual-meet victory over visiting Union on Saturday. The hosts finished the day with 14 first-place finishes out of 18 events. Three members of the team traveled to Tufts on the same day to compete in a quad meet, but did not score as a team. The Panthers are back at Dragone Field on May 8, hosting Hamilton.

The team traditionally competes in invitationals and have not competed in a dual meet since a 125-70 victory at Springfield on April 5, 2014.
Middlebury boasted a pair of double winners in the field events.
Mary Scott Robinson won the shot put (12.12m) and the hammer throw (38.76m) in her collegiate debut, with her mark in the shot put setting a school record. She bested the mark of 11.95 meters set by
Helene Rowland in 2018.Â
Cady Barns came out on top in the long jump (5.32m) and the triple jump (11.36m). Â

Eva Kaiden had a big meet for the hosts, winning a pair of individual events and was part of  a winning relay. She boasted a top time of 13.03 seconds in the 100 meters and 26.92 in the 200, while joining forces with
Liza Toll,
Jaqueline Topping and
Joely Virzi in the 4x100 relay (50.85).

Michelle Louie crossed the finish line first in the 400 meters with a time of 59.77 seconds and was part of the winning 4x400 relay. Also on the relay that finished in 4:07.67, was
Dana Glackin,
Ashley Raynor and
Gretchen McGrath.

In the 1,500 meters,
Katelyn Pease paced the field with a clocking of 4:50.90, while
Grace Kirkpatrick won the 5,000 in 19:13.49.
Ciara Dale added a winning performance in the 400 hurdles (1:07.20).

Leah Granger won the pole vault clearing a height of 3.05 meters, while
Emma Walsh had a top throw of 33.06 meters in the javelin.
The Panthers were dominant in the 800 meters at Tufts, placing first and second.
Cassie Kearney stopped the clock in 2:11.81, and
Nicole Johnson was right behind with a time of 2:13.66.
Eliza Broughton placed sixth in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 12:27.78. Â
