The Middlebury women's tennis team (1-0) triumphed 7-2 over Hamilton (0-2) in its season opener. The Panthers return to action when they travel to Wesleyan on Saturday, before returning home for back-to-back weekends of hosting Amherst and Williams, respectively.
In doubles play,
Amy Delman and
Sami Remis recorded the first point for Middlebury with an 8-3 victory in the third slot, before tandem
Kavina Amin and
Gena Huang earned the second point at #2 with an 8-3 score.
Emily Bian and
Ann Martin Skelly made it a 3-0 match with an 8-2 triumph in the first spot.
The Panther's first singles point came at #6, where
Caitlin Neal cruised 6-0, 6-1. At #3, Bian won 6-0, 6-1 to seal the victory for Middlebury. Amin (6-0, 6-2) and Huang (6-2, 6-3) extended the Panther advantage to 7-0 with their first collegiate singles points at #5 and #2, respectively. Both of Hamilton's points came in close matches at #1 and #4, which were decided in a third-set tiebreaker.
