Late Goal Earns Men's Hockey Tie At Colby

Emack Bentley scored with 1:22 remaining, earning Middlebury a point in the standings as the Panthers (7-8-1, 5-4-1) settled for a 3-3 tie at Colby (5-9-2, 2-7-1) on Saturday afternoon. Middlebury returns to action on Friday when it hosts Tufts at 7:00 p.m.

Middlebury took a 1-0 lead just 1:53 into the game when Tyler Capello go the Panthers off to a fast start. Owen Powers made it a 2-0 game less than two minutes later when he scored on a wrap around after a feed from Bentley. The Mules made it a 2-1 game with 2:52 left in the period on a power-play goal by Carter Breitenfedt.

Following a scoreless second period, Colby knotted the game at 2-2 with another power-play goal. The tally came at the 4:29 mark as Alex Bourhas found the back of the net after a nice pass off the back boards by Spencer Hewson. The Mules scored their third-straight goal on the power play, moving ahead 3-2 at the 12:30 mark when Justin Grillo's knuckler slipped past Panther netminder Adam Wisco.

Middlebury tied the game at the 18:38 mark when Bentley's shot from the outside deflected in off a defender to tie the game at 3-3.

The Panthers finished with a commanding 40-22 edge in shots, as Wisco made 19 saves to earn the win. Andrew Tucci made 37 saves between the pipes for the Mules. Middlebury was 0-1 on the power play, while Colby converted 3-4 attempts.
