No. 8 Middlebury Posts Come-From-Behind Win Over No. 10 Williams

The eighth-ranked Panther men's tennis team fell behind after doubles play for the second-straight day, but responded by winning four of the six singles matches en route to a 5-4 come-from-behind victory Sunday over No. 10 Williams (7-5, 4-1). Middlebury (11-5, 4-1) returns to action Friday when travels to Bates for a 4:00 p.m. match.

During doubles play, the Ephs secured the early lead in the back-and-forth match with an 8-1 win at No. 1. Middlebury knotted the score at 1-1 when Noah Farrell and Peter Martin defeated Arturo Kam and Calvin Chung by an 8-3 score in the second spot. Williams grabbed a 2-1 lead behind an 8-5 triumph in the bottom spot.

In singles play, Farrell leveled the match at 2-2 via a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Ananth Raghavan at No. 2. The Ephs regained the lead with a straight-set win at No. 4, before Middlebury's Nate Eazor tied the contest again with a 7-5, 6-3 victory against Peter Frelinghuysen at No. 6.

Lubomir Cuba gave the Panthers their first lead in the match at 4-3, posting a 6-4, 6-4 triumph atop the lineup over Kam. The visitors tied the score again with a victory in the fifth position.

In the decisive match at No. 3, Andre Xiao and Deepak Indrakanti split the first two sets, before Xiao recorded a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 victory to complete the comeback and make the final score 5-4.
