Panthers Fall to No. 4 CMS to End Spring Trip

Second-ranked Middlebury completed its spring trip to Southern California on Saturday, falling to No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (17-1) by a 7-2 score. The match was played at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. Middlebury returns to action next Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. NESCAC home tilt with No. 7 Wesleyan.

During doubles action, the Panthers tallied their lone point when the No. 1 team of Lubomir Cuba and Nate Eazor edged Jack Katzman and Robert Liu in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (8). The Stags posted an 8-1 win at No.2 and an 8-6 triumph in the bottom flight for a 2-1 advantage.

In singles, Middlebury dropped the first five matches in straight sets. During the last flight on the courts, Andre Xiao tallied a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 against Daniel Park for the final 7-2 score.
