No. 2 Men's Tennis Stays Unbeaten With Win Over Rensselaer

Middlebury continued its unbeaten start to the spring, posting a 9-0 victory over visiting Rensselaer on Sunday. The match was played in the Nelson Recreation Center. The second-ranked Panthers (4-0) return to action during their spring break trip with seven matches in California, beginning with a contest on March 23 at Biola.

In the win over the Engineers (3-4), the Panthers swept all three doubles matches. The team of Andre Xiao and Aleksandr Samets won by an 8-5 score over Clay Thompson and Eddie Wu in the No. 3 flight. At No. 1, Lubomir Cuba and Nate Eazor won 8-6 over Sebastian Castillo-Sanchez and Andrew Imrie, while Peter Martin and Alex Vanezis posted an 8-4 triumph in the second spot versus Zach Ebenfeld and Dylan Pane.

During singles action, Cuba was victorious by scores of 6-0, 6-2 over Castillo-Sanchez at No. 1, while Stanley Morris clinched the match and the team's fifth point with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Thompson in the second spot. Xiao made the score 6-0 via a 6-1, 6-3 victory in the third slot against Imrie.

The final three victories for the Panthers came from Adam Guo over Brian Niguidula at No. 4 (6-3, 6-3), Vanezis against Yudai Teruyama in the fifth spot (6-1, 6-2) and Martin at No. 6 over Payne (6-0, 6-2).
