Second-Ranked Panther Men Defeat No. 10 Brandeis

In a battle of top-10 nationally-ranked foes, the second-ranked Panther men's tennis team defeated No. 10 Brandeis (7-2) on Saturday by a 6-3 score. The contest was played indoors at the Nelson Recreational Center. The Panthers (3-0) return to action on Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. home match against Rensselaer.

During doubles action, Middlebury's top tandem of Lubomir Cuba and Nate Eazor started things off with an 8-6 victory over David Aizenberg and Anupreeth Coramulta. The No. 3 flight of Aleksandr Samets and Andre Xiao won 8-7 (3) over Tyler Ng and Colt Tegtmeier, while the second doubles team of Peter Martin and Alex Vanezis fought back from a 7-4 deficit for an 8-7 (5) victory over Jeff Chen and Adam Tzeng.

In singles action, Adam Guo claimed the team's fourth point at No. 4 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Nikhal Das. The Judges made the score 4-1 with a win in the second position. Cuba clinched the match for the Panthers with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) triumph against Aizenberg in the top spot.

Brandeis earned wins at No. 3 and No. 5 to pull within 5-3. Vanezis completed the scoring with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the bottom of the lineup over Rajan Vohra.
