Panthers Post Strong Finishes While Hosting NESCAC Championships

Middlebury finished in eighth place overall while serving as the host of the 2019 NESCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships in the Middlebury College Natatorium. Williams claimed the team title with 1,822 points, while Tufts was second with 1,775.5 points, followed by Amherst (1,506) in third place. The Panthers accumulated 589.5 points over the course of the meet.

In the evening's initial event, Alec Wilson swam to a 19th-place finish during the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16:36.75. The next championship final saw Kevin Santoro touch the wall in 15th place during the 200 backstroke with a mark of 1:53.61. Jack Dowling finished in fifth place in the consolation final of the 200 butterfly for 13th overall with a time of 1:54.29.

During the 3-meter diving competition, Mike Chirico finished fourth with 435.30 points after recording a third-place showing in Friday's 1-meter event.

The 400 freestyle relay quartet of Will Pannos, Corey Jalbert, Jake Gaughan and Brendan Leech capped off the championship's final event with an eighth-place time of 3:06.36.
