Middlebury outscored Skidmore (2-3) 26-16 in the third quarter, on its way to a 74-59 win over the Thoroughbreds on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers (3-0) return to action on Tuesday night when they host Castleton State at 7:00 p.m.

Middlebury trailed 9-2 early, but slowly chipped away at the deficit, closing the quarter on an 8-2 run to knot the game at 17-17 after 10 minutes of play. Betsy Knox scored 11 of the Panthers' 17 points in the quarter.

Middlebury tied the game at 20-20 in the second quarter, before taking its first lead of the game (24-23) on a hoop from Maya Davis at the 4:51 mark. The Panthers took a 31-28 lead into the halftime break after a three from Gianna Palli in the final minutes.

Middlebury went on an 8-0 run early in the decisive third quarter, with four points from Knox. The lead continued to grow, as the Panthers went up 52-37 at the 2:46 mark on a bucket from Reagan McDonald.

Leading 59-44 heading into the final stanza, Middlebury maintained a double-digit lead, closing the game with 6-6 free throw shooting for a 74-59 final.

Knox scored a career-high 23 points in the win to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Palli added 17 points and six rebounds, while Kira Waldman finished with 16 points and six boards. Maya Davis added 10 points in the victory, with eight from Alyna Baharozian.

Jessica Centore netted 15, while Katie McCarney scored 14 to pace Skidmore. Toyin Koleoso earned a team-high eight rebounds.
