Middlebury sophomore Stanley Morris continued his run on Friday morning at the ITA Cup in the Division III singles bracket, cruising in straight sets during a semifinal victory over No. 3 seed Jack Katzman from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The three-day event featuring Division II, Division III, NAIA and Junior College participants is being held at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.
Unseeded in the bracket, Morris posted a 6-1, 6-4 triumph in the semifinals over Katzman. He will take on fourth-seeded Boris Sorkin of Tufts on Saturday in the final with a start time yet to be determined as rain is forecasted. Saturday's championship will be a rematch of the ITA New England Regional final in which Sorkin edged Morris.
Morris is the third Panther to reach the championship match in the tournament over the last five years, joining Noah Farrell (2015) and Lubomir Cuba (2016).
