Strong Finishes By Gomez, Chirico Highlight Day Three of NCAA Meet

Maya Gomez swam to 11th place in the 100-yard breaststroke and Mike Chirico finished 13th in the men's 1-meter diving event during day three of the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships. The four-day meet is taking place at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana, with Franklin College and the Indiana Sports Corporation serving as the hosts. With his six team points he scored during the two diving events, Chirico finished in a tie for 46th out of 53 scoring teams. 

On the 1-meter board, Chirico amassed 433.20 points for 13th place out of 24 competitors. He concludes his first NCAA Championship with a pair of top-15 efforts after finishing 15th during Wednesday's 3-meter competition.

In the morning's preliminary swim, Gomez swam to a time of 1:03.67, tying her for the ninth-fastest time. Later in the evening's consolation final, she bettered her time by over three-tenths of a second with a third-place mark in 1:03.35, good for 11th overall.
