Middlebury finished in seventh place overall at the 2018 NESCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Bowdoin in the Greason Pool. Tufts captured its first team title by amassing 1,671 points, snapping Williams' streak of 16-straight conference titles. The Ephs ended up in second place with 1,590 points, followed by Amherst (1.467.5) in the third spot. The Panthers accumulated 667.5 points over the course of the meet.
In the evening's initial event, Alec Wilson swam to an eighth-place finish during the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16:18.43. The next championship final saw Kevin Santoro touch the wall in fifth place during the 200 backstroke with a mark of 1:50.42.
Connor McCormick finished in the runner-up spot during the 200 breaststroke consolation final during the next event. He wound up in 10th overall with a time of 2:05.11, bettering his morning preliminary swim by .55 seconds.
During the 3-meter diving competition, Mike Chirico finished third with 447.90 points after recording a second-place showing in Friday's 1-meter event. Both efforts earned the second-year Panther All-NESCAC honors.
The 4x400-free relay quartet of Will Pannos, Cory Jalbert, Alex Smith and Brendan Leech capped off the championship's final event with a ninth-place time of 3:07.17.
