Harrison Grabs 600th Rebound in Win at Plattsburgh

Catherine Harrison surpassed the 600-career rebound plateau, as Middlebury improved to 7-0 with an 80-70 road win at Plattsburgh State (3-4) on Tuesday night. The Panthers return to action on Saturday when they host Skidmore at 2:00 p.m.

Trailing 10-4, Middlebury went on a 12-1 run, taking a 16-11 lead on a bucket from Ivy Houde at the 1:57 mark of the first quarter.

An evenly played second quarter saw the Panthers take a 36-34 lead into the locker room.

Middlebury opened the third quarter on a 9-1 run, holding a 45-36 advantage with 7:51 on the clock. Kira Waldman scored seven points and had two steals during the spurt.

Plattsburgh responded with the game's next nine points to knot the score at 45-45 at the 6:24 mark. The Panthers closed the quarter by scoring the final five points to take a 62-57 lead.

The run continued into the fourth quarter, as the Panthers went up 68-57 on a hoop from Maya Davis 2:01 into the final session. The Cardinals cut the lead to seven, but that's as close as they'd get, as Middlebury picked up the road win.

Harrison led four players in double figures with 16 points on 7-10 shooting from the floor. She pulled down seven rebounds in the game, giving her 604 in her career, sixth all-time at Middlebury. Waldman went 6-8 and scored 15 points with five rebounds and four assists, while Emily Wander tied her career high with 14 points off the bench. Davis added 12 points and eight rebounds in the win.

Taylor Durnin led all scorers with 18 points, Bella DePasquale scored 15, while Kelly Degnan added a dozen.

Both teams shot well from the floor as the Panthers (.548) held a slim edge over the Cardinals (.510). Plattsburgh was 10-19 from three-point range, while Middlebury converted 3-11 attempts. The Panthers continued their dominance on the boards, more than doubling up their opponents, 36-17.
