Middlebury got back to its winning ways on Tuesday with a 3-0 victory at Skidmore (25-22, 25-11, 25-22) in the Williamson Sports Center. The Panthers (11-3) return to action on Friday when they host Tufts in a NESCAC matchup at 7:00 p.m.

The Panthers raced out to a 7-1 advantage in the opening set, capped on a service ace by Claire White-Dzuro. The Thoroughbreds (14-8) chipped away at the deficit, cutting it to 14-13 on a kill by Lauren Wolters. With the Middlebury lead hovering between one and four, the hosts sliced it to 21-20 on a Panther attack error. The Panthers tallied four of the last six points, including a solo block by Isabel Sessions on set point, for the 25-22 victory.

Clinging to a 7-6 edge in set number two, Middlebury rattled off a 12-2 run for a 19-8 lead and cruised to the 25-11 set win. Sarah Staver had three kills during the decisive spurt for the Panthers.

With the final set deadlocked at 11-11, the visitors moved out to their largest lead at five (20-15) on a block. Skidmore slowly worked its way to within a pair at 24-22 on a service ace from Lily Fitzgerald, but a kill from Staver clinched the set and the match.

Staver led the Middlebury attack with 16 kills and a .519 hitting percentage, while Sessions also chipped in with 10 kills. Chellsa Ferdinand had 18 assists and Emma Walsh dished out 14. Gigi Alper posted a team-best 15 digs, while White-Dzuro chipped in with 12 and a pair of service aces. Staver tallied two block solos and a block assist.

Skidmore was paced by Katy Ehnstrom with 10 kills, while Sophia Hettler had eight. Lauren Wolters recorded 17 assists for the Thoroughbreds, while Catie Canfield dug up a team-best 14 balls.
