Middlebury outrebounded Keene State 46-22 on its way to a 71-51 road win over the Owls (3-17) on Tuesday night. The Panthers (15-5) return to action on Friday when they travel to third-ranked Bowdoin for a 7:00 p.m. game.

Trailing 3-1 early, Middlebury went on a 10-1 run, with four points from Colleen Caveney, taking an 11-4 lead with 3:20 remaining. Keene State answered before the Panthers held a 13-7 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play.

The Panthers opened the second quarter on a 12-0 run with points from five different players, leading 25-7 with 7:13 remaining. The Owls connected on three straight from long range to cut the lead to 25-16. Middlebury later led 29-18 before a 6-0 spurt gave it a 35-18 lead with 2:11 remaining. A late steal from Kira Waldman secured a 38-24 advantage at the intermission.

The third quarter was relatively evenly played, with the Panthers taking a 54-36 lead into the fourth on three with four seconds left from Waldman.

Middlebury took its largest lead of the game (22) at 61-39 on a layup from Catherine Harrison at the 7:28 mark of the fourth quarter. The margin later grew to 22 after be cut into, but the Panthers were never challenged on their way to the 71-51 victory.

Caveney led a balanced Middlebury attack with 19 points on 8-12 shooting from the floor, while Waldman netted 10. Maya Davis chipped in with nine points, Alex Huffman scored eight with seven rebounds and four assists, while Harrison tallied eight points off the bench.

Sandi Purcell paced the hosts with 14 points, while Emily McPadden netted 13 off the bench.
